There are only 48 cities that ranked as more expensive, while 901 ranked as less expensive for healthcare.

Household Accommodation: there are only 33 cities out of 950 in the report where people pay more for housing, water, electricity, household gas, household fuels, residential taxes, mortgage, house/flat rental, household electricity, household gas/fuel, water consumption, and local property taxes/levies.

Personal Care: items such as cosmetics, hair care, nappies, pain relief tablets, toilet paper, toothpaste, and soap/shampoo/conditioner also cost more. There were only 76 cities out 950 worldwide that ranked as more expensive for personal care items.

Recreation/Entertainment: cinema tickets, DVDs and CDs, sports goods, and theatre tickets in Manchester all cost more than most of the other cities. The city ranked 268 out of 950.

Restaurants/Hotels: dinner at a restaurant (non fast food), hotel rates, and take-away (fast food) all ranked higher than average in Manchester with only 135 places out of 950 that ranked higher.

Transport: costs are again listed as “very high” for public transport, vehicle fuel, vehicle insurance and maintenance, and vehicle purchase. Only 68 cities ranked higher, with 881 places costing less to get around.
